Are the concrete countertops poured on-site or are they preformed?
|
|
SMOOTHCRETE prefers to pour the concrete countertops on-site. By doing so, it saves on time in making the template and forming as well as avoiding seams in your concrete countertop. |
| |
How soon will we be able to use our concrete countertop? |
|
Concrete Countertops take approximately 25 days to cure, but you will be able to use it the day it is poured and after it is sealed. |
| |
Will concrete countertops stain if something is spilled on them? |
|
Our concrete is a composite product. It is harder and stronger than regular concrete and is sealed in order to prevent staining. We recommend cleaning any spills as soon as possible from the concrete countertops. Sealing concrete countertops is recommended annually. |
| |
Concrete is very heavy. Will there need to be additional support? |
|
No. Your cabinets are more than sufficient to support concrete countertops. |
| |
How does the price compare to other countertop surfaces? |
|
Prices for concrete countertops are less than granite, corian, and limestone. Prices are typically in the $85 -$90 per square foot range. Standard backsplashes start at $20 per linear foot. |
| |
What type of sink do I use and who installs it? |
|
Any type of sink can be used. Sinks are not made specially for concrete countertops. Sinks can be under-mounted, over-mounted, or SMOOTHCRETE can pour an integral concrete sink in any shape or size. |
| |
What if I want to change the colour of the concrete countertop in the future? |
|
The concrete countertops can be stained any colour that you can imagine, even after the concrete countertop is poured and sealed. |
| |
I have an "odd-shaped" countertop. What are my limitations? |
|
There are no limitations. The only limit is your imagination! |
| |
What types of backsplashes are available with concrete countertops? |
|
Backsplashes can be made from whatever you want. You can use tumbled marble, stainless steel, ceramic tile, etc. |
| |
Can you cut directly on concrete countertops? |
|
Yes, but you will scratch the sealer, so it is not recommended to do so. If you prefer, SMOOTHCRETE can inlay cutting surfaces directly into the concrete countertop to provide you with a cutting surface. |
Can I put hot pans on concrete countertops? |
|
We don't recommend hot pans directly on the concrete countertops. You can put objects up to 300F without damaging the concrete countertop, however you can damage the sealers. SMOOTHCRETE can install "hotplates" directly into concrete countertops. |

Detailing is only limited to your imagination. We can replicate anything! Edge detailing can include insetting stainless steel, stained glass, ceramic, or anything that may suit your designing needs. |
